Conduct Research That Matters
The Laidlaw Scholars Programme provides a unique opportunity for undergraduates to delve into a topic that ignites their passion. Typically in the first summer of the Programme, you will spend 6 weeks conducting in-depth research with the guidance of an academic supervisor or experienced research team.
Your project will hone your ability to search for the counterfactual, ask bold questions, develop rigorous research methodologies, and uncover insights with the potential to make a real-world impact.

Designing Your Research Project
Most Laidlaw Scholars propose their own research projects. Explore your passions – what global issues spark your curiosity? Consider the UN Sustainable Development Goals for inspiration. Seek guidance from potential supervisors to refine your idea and ensure feasibility within the Programme timeframe.
Designing your research requires independence, so be prepared to manage your time effectively and embrace challenges.
